whirlpools from endless circling,
bubbles for friends,
the reflection of a never seen face.

we could burrow in the stones.

On preparing to never let go

Walking slowly down the hall, arms filled with the day's mail, we spoke of morbid things. She wants to be reduced to ash and I want to know if I can keep her on my mantle. She looks at me sideways with a curious face and forgets her footsteps. Grommets for Hanging

The buildings so tightly packed that the roofs became a city unto themselves, new roofs erected from detritus hauled up from the streets below, built by human versions of same. Old rooftop was floor space now, shingled and tar-papered carpet subfloor under layers of cardboard bedding and lean-tos and currogated shacks thrown up against exhaust vents.
